I go Celebrate Art and Culture at the 61st Annual Halifax Art Festival in Daytona Beach | Oceans Luxury Vacations

The vibrant city of Daytona Beach, Florida, is gearing up for a spectacular cultural event that has been captivating art enthusiasts for over six decades. Sponsored by the Guild of the Museum of Arts & Sciences, the 61st Annual Halifax Art Festival is set to take place on November 4th and 5th, 2023, at the Historic Downtown Riverfront Park on Beach Street, between Bay Street and Orange Avenue. This extraordinary festival has become a beloved tradition in Central Florida, offering a unique blend of fine arts, crafts, music, food, and entertainment for all ages.

A Rich Legacy of Art and Culture

Celebrating its 61st anniversary, the Halifax Art Festival stands as the second oldest continual art festival in the entire state of Florida. Over the years, it has drawn in approximately 30,000 visitors, making it a premier annual event in the region. This festival showcases the works of more than 150 talented fine artists and artisans hailing from all corners of the country. It’s a testament to the enduring love for art and culture in the community.

A Diverse Spectrum of Artistry

One of the festival’s highlights is the impressive array of original works of art. Over 200 artists participate, offering affordable artwork that caters to both seasoned collectors and those just starting their art journey. The festival is divided into two sections: Competitive Fine Arts and Crafts, which are juried and eligible for awards, and Non-Competitive Arts, which are juried but not eligible for prizes. Regardless of which section you explore, you’ll find a world of creativity and inspiration.

Nurturing Young Talent

The Halifax Art Festival places great emphasis on nurturing budding artists. The Student Art Exhibit and Competition feature the work of art students from kindergarten through twelfth grade, including those from the Volusia County public school system and area private schools. These young talents get to showcase their creativity at the News-Journal Center at Daytona State College, allowing them to be a part of this cultural celebration. After the Awards Ceremony, the winning art is displayed at the Daytona Museum of Arts & Sciences for a week, offering the community a chance to appreciate the emerging talent.

Art for the Little Ones

Even the youngest members of the community are not left out. Children aged Pre-K to 5 years old are invited to pick up a “Little Van Gogh To Go” kit at the information booth. These kits enable them to create their unique masterpieces at home. Parents are encouraged to share their child’s artwork on social media, tagging @MOASDaytona and using #LittleVanGogh. It’s a delightful way to involve children in the arts and share their creations with the world.

Entertainment and Cuisine

Live music will infuse the festival with energy on both Saturday and Sunday. Ample seating is available along Beach Street, providing the perfect spot to enjoy the music and indulge in festival snacks. Attendees can choose from a variety of festival food options or explore the numerous fine bistros and restaurants lining Beach Street.

Supporting the Arts and Community

The 61st Halifax Art Festival is presented and produced by the Guild of the Museum of Arts & Sciences. This festival serves as the signature fundraiser for the Museum and contributes to the success of the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art and the Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum. It’s not just an event for art lovers; it’s a meaningful way to support the arts and strengthen the community.

Mark your calendars for November 4th and 5th, 2023, and join us at the Halifax Art Festival for a weekend filled with art, culture, and community spirit.
